Introduction

Lanyue Tower is designed by renowned architect Zhu Xiaodi. This modern building is inspired by a traditional Chinese pavilion, which emphasizes a large foundation with layer-by-layer architectural form, yet twisted with modern perforated metal façades.

The interior of the building consists of four cores, forming a crossing axis that runs from the first floor to the top of the tower. As a lighting consultant, we considered and illuminated this vertical and horizontal axis as a main architectural feature to create visual interest through the night. Additionally, we added spotlights on the rooftop to continue the vertical axis line to the sky, which symbolizes the rapidly rising aerospace industry.

There are a series of linear fixtures mounted in between the mesh panel façade and structural walls to create an inner glow on the façade. Spotlights are mounted at each corner of the building to celebrate the building's form.  There are floor-mounted spotlights to bring another layer of light, creating a more dimensional sense and visual hierarchy.
