The Time Tower is constructed with a three-dimensional structure composed of intersecting layers of discs of varying sizes and rising screens surrounding the rim, which creates an abstract display of spacious dimensions. By illuminating the bottom layer of the discs we are able to control the lighting of both the interior and exterior of the Time Tower, resulting in an exquisite aesthetic. In the nighttime sky, the mysterious Time Tower shines like a crystal relic from antiquity, radiating an enigmatic aura.
We selected eight projection lights to create a vivid, dynamic visual display from Bing Yi's paintings on the screen facade. To ensure the integration of lighting and media would result in a unified artistic expression, we carried out extensive research on the position of these fixtures and conducted multiple on-site tests. Furthermore, we used advanced architectural lighting techniques to develop a sensation of awe in viewers and to produce a breathtaking visual experience for the people of Nanjing.
