Introduction

Located at No. 18 Jiuxianqiao Middle Road in Chaoyang District, within the Beiguang Industrial Park, the computing power center has brought a significant impact to the entire street and even the broader district. Its façade exudes a strong sense of industry and technology, appearing like a creation from the future and forming a striking contrast with the surrounding buildings. Instead of deliberately pursuing exaggerated forms, the design adopts a framed architectural language that reveals the internal ducts and equipment, expressing a direct and powerful sense of technological strength.

 

Our lighting design abandons conventional functional boundaries. Guided by the core idea Light is both Data and Computing Power, we transform the building and its interiors into a perceivable, interactive, evolving Digital Organism. Deeply integrating cutting-edge technology with human-centered thinking, we create a multidimensional design language that balances utility with artistic expression.

 

The lighting design scope encompasses the building, landscape, and interior spaces. A base color temperature of 3500K creates a “balanced light effect” that bridges the cool precision of technology with the warm presence of humanity. As night falls, the building’s mass gradually fades from view, replaced by points of light marking the intersections of architectural space. These flickering lights form a digital architectural vocabulary, while the punctate lighting on the façade and the grid-patterned ground lights in the landscape work in unison to evoke a sense of virtual space.

 

Simultaneously, the building’s real‑time “language” is broadcast outward via luminous flexible screens that present dynamic, unknown imagery to the public.

 

Perpetually installed on the exterior is Amy Karle’s work A Pulse in the Stream, which translates Beijing’s digital economy into a collective-intelligence beacon. The piece weaves together real‑time environmental shifts, building data and human heartbeats, revealing hidden data flows that underlie critical — yet invisible — transformations.

 

Indoors the lighting becomes an intuitive partner.

 

The interior strategy follows “scene-adaptive & human–machine collaboration,” creating differentiated smart-lighting environments for the data halls, exhibition zones, tech tunnel, offices and the computing-theatre.

 

On the ground floor, the computing exhibition hall shows live data streams on a large display. Track spotlights arranged in the ceiling deliver flexible illumination for diverse exhibition requirements.

 

The exhibition’s Tech Tunnel fuses digital art and a matrix of luminous sources to cultivate an immersive atmosphere. A field of starlike pinpoints—controlled intelligently—breathes through subtle variations of brightness and rhythm.

 

The ceiling luminaires themselves were developed through repeated prototyping and close coordination with the interior design team and fixture manufacturer. The final solution is a uniformly emissive square light element, integrated into the space as part of the technological art language.

 

Nearby is the showcase zone: an open area where transparent glass cases contain adaptation modules, exhibition machine rooms, and adjacent ECC spaces, bright, honest lighting reveals these systems as functioning infrastructure rather than inert, ornamental dead boxes viewed from afar.

 

To the east of the exhibition machine room sits the computing theatre—the heart of the center. As a multifunctional hall and the future base for the JXQ AI Forum, it will host dialogues and demonstrations by leading technology practitioners. Lighting and spatial design work together in a minimalist manner to ensure the hall reads as clear and luminous. Track fixtures, coordinated with the exposed ceiling form, provide flexible, easily reconfigurable illumination to meet evolving spatial needs.

 

At the Beijing Digital Economy Computing Power Center, light never stops at illumination — it materializes billions of data flows, makes the breath of intelligent algorithms visible, and becomes the building’s language with the digital realm. With “intelligence” as structure and “technological presence” as tone, the architecture is lifted from a mere container of compute into a tangible expression of digital civilization. Here, every ray of light pulses like a data heartbeat and every shift of light and shadow inhales with intelligence — lighting not only reveals physical space but sketches a digital economy future of human–technology symbiosis.
